 Kuwait

First of all, I would like to tell you a little bit about Kuwait.

Kuwait is a country in Western Asia.It is a very rich country.
Because of its vast oil wealth, Kuwait can and does subsidize every part of it's people's lives, emplyment, health, education, housing-and even some grocery stores.
The government provides a job to vertually every Kuwaiti citizen, women included.
Also, most of the food in this oil-rich but soil and water poor country is imported.

The category of the budget mostly used are meat fish and eggs. And surprisingly the cost used for dairy is quite big. Maybe it is because you can not rasie cows in the desert and the cost is expensive.

There are religious differences compared to Japan. The family in Kuwait aften has servants or house maids to take care of the children and to do the house work such as cooking and washing. In Japan, normally we do not have this kind of family structure.

January 19th 2017

Hi!!
Today, I would like to write about the food related book that I finished recently!!
The book is called the Bread for the world as I shown you before.
I is a book about food shortages and poverty.
From reading this book, I learned many things about the developping countries and the real situation.
I love this book because there were graphs and pictures to show the data and it shows many examples so it was very easy to understand.
The favorite part of this book is in the second chapter where tells us if the world were represented by 100 people.
This is how it would look like.
if the world were represented by 100 people twistedsifter If the World were Represented by 100 people this is What it Would Look Like

When I looked at this, I was vey shocked. If we look at it in this way, we can understand the starvation in the world is desperate.
Living in Japan, it is not easy to see what is going on in the develloping countries but we must learn.
Also most importantly, We must act. We must have the courage to move and change the situation.
In the last chapter of the book it showed what we can do ourselves. It seems that what we can do is little but if each one of us had the courage to change the situation, I belive it will change.

By reading this book, I decided to go to Cambodia to do a international volunteer. I wanted to see with my own eyes what is happening in Cambodia. Are there enough food ? Are they able to have a sanitized life? I think this experience will change myself and it would give me courage to move forward.
I really recommend to read this book and change yourself!!
thankyou for reading:)

Restaurant Reviews

January 17th 2017

Happy New Year!!!!
How ahave you all been? How did you spend your winter vacation? Today I would like to show you the restaurant I went yesterday!!!!

I went to a restaurant called La Boheme. It is a Italian cafe. It's in Omotesando and it is close from Aoyamagakuin University. It took only 10 minutes by walking.
The yellow building is fancy and it makes me feel that I'm Italy.
The menu's were shown outside which was easy to see what kind of cousine are there.

This is the picture of the inside!
You can actually see the chefs cooking so it was not boring to wait.
The clerk looked fresh and clean which was a very good point!!
Also, she was very polite and smiling which made a good impression of the restaurant.
The menu was mostly pasta and there were some pizzas too.
The price was reasnable. Most of them were lower than 1000 yen.
At lunch time there was the lunch course where you can order salad and soup and desert as a set which was also reasnable!
Also, you had a choice of increasing the volume of pasta for 100 yen which was also good!

This is what I ordered!!! It is a Japanese taste pasta with spinach and chiken and green onions.
It tasted and smelled of garlic which was also nice.
It was not too oily so it was easy to eat. I loved it so much.
It came in 10~15 minutes so I didn't have to wait much.
The fork and spoon was wrapped in paper so it was clean without the dust.
Overall, it was a very good restaurant so I would want to recommend it to you!!!

Istanbul Restaurant Review

This is the video review of the Istanbul Restaurant. It's divided in good points, bad points, what you should eat and a mini video clip of the person actually going to the restaurant. She saids many good things about the restaurant For example, the service, food quality, the amount the price the cleanliness...If you look at the video, you can find out about this restaurant and the food that she recommends. For my self, the quality and the amount of the food is a very important aspect of the restaurant so, when I looked at the picture of the food, It looked very delicious and the amount was also reasonable. Her review of the restaurant is vey easy to understand because she put the words on the right side of the video so it is easy to see what she is talking about. I would also recommend that you go to this Istanbul restaurrant! Please have a try!!!

Pacific salmon

Five species of pacific salmon thrive in the Pacific North-west of North America and Canada. They begin their lives on the fresh water streams, lakes and rivers and migrate to the sea as small fish called smolths. Aftera athey transition from fresh to salt water and grow into adults in the high seas of the North Pacific ocean, a biological clock tells the salmon when it's time to return to the place of their birth to spawn a new generation.

Before the arrival of Europeans, the abundance of food in the coastal regions of the Pacific North-west of the North America supported a unique and extraordinary culture. The relatively mild climate provided an ideal environment for human inhabitation, also making the rivers of the region perfect salmon grounds. Salmon runs in the late summer and autumn , provided a huge resource of food.

As well as the hunting them with spears and traps, the people erected large fish wiers spanning a river completly or stretched across a channel where the salmon were known to swim. Large quantities of food could be caught this way.

The importance of the fish to the people of the Pacific North-west coast has been compared to the role played by the the buffalo in the cultures of the tribes of the Great Plains and has led to them being discribed as the ‘salmon nations’.
However, in the eighteenth century, the people of the first nations were exposed to a disese called small pox which was a devasting flow to the culture causing villages to be abandoned and accmulated knowledge that had been passed down through the generation.
In the nineteenth and twentieth century, sea otter fur was highly sought by China so there was a serious decline in sea otter numbers to the point of extinction before conservation measures were put in place. The salmon also went into decline as commercial fishing expanded. The link between the fish and the people remained but few of the First Nations relied on the runs for food anymore.

"Bread For The World"

Hi!!Im an university student in Japan learnig about food.TodayI would want to introduce my food book that I'm reading right now. The title of the book is "Bread For The World" It's a book about food shortages and food crisis in the developping countries. It shows why it happend and what is the solution to the problem. It also shows what we can do to save people and children from hunger.Food shortage is a serious problem in the world. Even in Japan, there are people who are starved to death. On the other hand, the wealthy people can easily waste food. We definatly need to think deeply about this situation.
This is a video related on my book.It makes you think about the hunger in the world. It is quite shocking to see the real numbers and the reality but I think it is a very good opportunity to think about what is going on in the world. You may think it is not related to you but hunger can happen any time anywhere.

It gives you a image on what is going on in the world right now. In our daily lives, it is difficult to see the people who are starving to death. So we need to learn. We need to have the correct information.
Most importantly, we need to realize that hunger is a serious problm and we need to think what we can do and make it in action.
